New Submission Call! #amwriting #romance

New submission call for our upcoming anthology! We did a call for “forbidden” stories and received so many professor/student submissions that we decided to dedicate a full anthology to the theme.

The Craving Chronicles

It's Back! (3)

New anthology theme announcement: Craving Teacher.

Crave Publishing, a division of Limitless Publishing, is accepting short stories for the contemporary romance anthology Craving: TEACHER. Completed stories should be 10,000 words (7,500 minimum, 12,000 maximum, with 10,000 as the ideal length).

There’s always that one teacher or professor, the one who’s a little too hot or looks at you a little too often. And there’s always that one student, who is as precocious in the bedroom as in the classroom. And we love those steamy, sexy, forbidden stories about how the rules don’t stand a chance against chemistry.

Your story should involve a setting of college or graduate school, with a student and a professor, thesis advisor, or other similar position. The student must be over 18. You might have a male student and female teacher/instructor, or female student and male teacher. High “heat” levels are encouraged, but please don’t…

We are looking for stories featuring a couple in which one (preferably the male, but not required) is insanely rich, possibly famous, powerful, and lives a dynamic, luxurious lifestyle. Think of how they meet, in a funny, dramatic, traumatic, or even adversarial way, leading to an unlikely romance with lots of heat and indulgent details.

Interested authors should email with a short summary (not to exceed 250 words) of their story in the body of the email and attach the following in two separate Word documents:

• Document 1: Your complete, edit-ready short story of approximately 10,000 words. Format as follows…
o 1” margins, 12-point Times New Roman
o Auto indent for paragraphs of 0.2” (Do NOT use tabs)
o Single space, with NO additional line space between paragraphs
o If your story contains chapters, use a page break (control+enter) to move to the new page. (Do NOT hit multiple line returns to reach the new page)
• Document 2: Author’s recent publishing history and current social media links

DEADLINE to submit the story is 5:00 p.m. US Eastern time, APRIL 6, 2018. (Hard deadline, no exceptions.)
Complete, edit-ready stories should be sent to lori@cravepublishing.net.

Authors will be notified on or about APRIL 21, 2018 if their story has been selected.

Release date is planned for JULY 24, 2018.

Sometimes there’s the one person everyone thinks is totally wrong for you. The one with whom you have nothing in common, or the one your friends warn you is sure to lead straight to disaster. No step-sibling or step-parent stories, please.

Pups Grow Up

I absolutely, positively did not want a puppy. In November 2016, when Brody died and we’d already lost Darwin to cancer in June, I desperately needed a dog. I hadn’t been dogless in my life. I’m not cut out to not have a dog. But I didn’t want a puppy. I’m too old to be dealing with puppy shenanigans.

Then I found Mozzie, and two months later, Oliver.

Yesterday, Mozzie turned 19 months old, and Oliver turned 17 months.

Here they were a year ago, at 7 and 5 months.

Now they’re so grown up. They might grow a little more, and fill out, but Mozzie was 62 pounds at his vet check last month, and Oliver was 57, and I don’t think either of them will gain much more than maybe five pounds. Just look at these faces!

They wake me up early, follow me everywhere, observe my every move, destroy the yard, bark and tear for the front window at every sound, terrorize squirrels, drag their toys all over the house, and generally behave like hyperactive heathens.

But they play and run and snuggle and make me laugh and keep me company. I didn’t want a puppy–much less two–but it turns out they were exactly what I needed.
